Default Going From Launching In Eclipse to Launching from Desktop Icon?

    Hi guys,

There is one thing that puzzles me. Something that the book I read (Absolute Java 5th Edition) Didn't tell me (Well I didn't see anyhow) how do you get from launching some java code in eclipse to launching a java program from your desktop It might sound like a silly question but my lecturer never told me....

Does one somehow wrap the code in C+ to make it a .exe? take for example Mine-Craft.

Its build in Java however launches as a .exe

If you feel so inclined just point me in the correct direction if you don't feel like typing and I can read from there.

    Thanks
    Ben.

You can create an executable .jar that will launch like a .exe if the system has a JRE installed. Otherwise, you can create a desktop shortcut that points to a batch file, or which itself contains the command to start your program.
Get in the habit of using standard Java naming conventions!

    OK thanks for that Kjkrum,

I have been doing some searching and found a program called Jwrapper that does a conversion to .exe I will look into executable .jar files too.

JWrapper works pretty well, but it's probably overkill for many cases. You should start by exporting it as a runnable jar (which JWrapper requires anyway).

Cool Beans, Thanks I found this Page about .Jar files: Creating an Executable jar File and I can work with Jwrapper now. Jwrappers JRE1.7 didn't work correctly though I had to use the JRE1.6
