Question How is java game programming?

    Hello guys I'm new here.
I want to know how is game programming in java.
I already learned C++ and game programming in it is very complicated.
It has many adds like DirectX3D and OpenGL and things like this.
I want to know If game programming in java is like this.
    Thanks

Yes its still complicated. Programming just is. Of course it also depends on what you do, its going to be infinitely harder to try and do a World of Warcraft clone than doing Pong.

Check out LibGDX as a very gentle introduction I'd say.

This is entirely subjective, and you're on a Java forum, so you can guess which way the opinions sway here.

Like gimbal2 said, *all* programming is complicated- especially game programming. I doubt anybody would say C++ programming is *simpler* than Java programming. But they're different tools for different jobs.

I second the vote for libGDX. I also recommend checking out Processing, which is built on top of Java.

You're asking that in a Java forum. Really?

Like I said, this is entirely subjective. Languages are like tools: each one is better suited for a different job. Asking us which language you should learn is like asking what you should eat for dinner. It depends entirely on your personal tastes and what you've tried before, so it's a bit pointless to ask strangers on the internet.

That being said, Gimbal2 already suggested you check out libGDX. I already suggested you check out Processing.

    PS- Burritos.

No, I can't speak for everyone. Most people here don't do 3D game programming at all. But you can be damned sure that if you go to a Java forum and ask "which language", there is going to be a bias. But what we think has absolutely no importance to you, because you need to make up your own mind. For all I know, you hate Java and all it stands for and you'd rather be using C#.

We recommend you try out different things and see what *you* like the best.

There are a ton of game development libraries built on top of Java, some/many of which support 3D. Some google keywords: libGDX, Processing, JMonkeyEngine, LWJGL, Slick2D.

However, I don't think I'd recommend diving right into 3D programming, until you've mastered 2D stuff. I'd go so far as to say you should build your first small game in Processing, your next one in Swing and Java2D, and then go on to the frameworks I mentioned above.

But again, this is all subjective. Try something out and see if you like it.

OK but lets concentrate on the main idea is 3D game programming in java like C++(uses things like OpenGL and DirectX) or it just makes games without those things?

Have you tried googling any of the keywords I gave you? Have you tried googling "Java openGL" or "Java game development"? If that wasn't your first step, you have a bumpy road ahead of you.

The answer is that you can absolutely use OpenGL in Java. Any number of the frameworks I mentioned do exactly that.
