    Default Java JRE 6 Updates

I'm a network administrator and I'm trying to find a way to get the most current JRE 6 / 65. I need this current version to address security vulnerabilities. We have a Cisco application that requires JRE 6.
My other google searches indicate that I now need some type of support agreement in order to download the current 65 update. What is the exact support agreement that I need and where do I purchase it from?

    Thanks
    Joe

    Is there an update 65?
45 is the last I am aware of for Java 6.

If there is then I suspect it's part of the support package, since 6 is no longer supported for free.
    Oracle Java SE support.

    Oracle Java SE support.
That. In other words: if you want it, you'll have to pay for it.

I am curious what 1.6 would provide that 1.7 doesn't? I know 1.7 update 45 recently fixed some security issues which according to the complaints in this forum have caused some issues.

    It gets worse even:

Apparently you'll always need an officially signed license to break through the Java sandbox as of 2014. Why not just ditch applets and webstart and call it quits eh?

For local stuff I thought you could set up rulesets?
I'm not in the frame of mind to interpret this page, but I think that's what this is implying for intranets.

Just to clarify I'm a Network Security Analyst with the responsibility to update Windows Updates. I'm not a developer. I have zero experience with the Oracla/Java product offerings. Right now JRE 6 Update 51 fails our security scan with a "Critical Flaw". Do I need a JAVA SE Support contract in order to get the JRE 6 Update 65?

    Y-E-S.

You'd think that security is about more than getting green checks from some security tool, I'd expect you to go find out what this Java thing actually is in stead of doing everything but that. I can venture a guess that this tool is actually bothering you because it is in fact Java 6, and not Java 7. Java 6 is end of life and as people have been trying to tell you, in extended support for those companies that are willing to pay to not have to make the effort to upgrade their own stuff so it is compatible with the up to date versions of the platform.

45 is the last update Oracle released prior to shelving Java 6.
Anything after 45 is going to be under their support license.
I have no idea exactly which one you would need.
Oracle is who you should be asking, not some unaffiliated forum.
The link I provided might or might not be sufficient for you.

Right now JRE 6 Update 51 fails
(so that support license is probably already bought somewhere by someone...)

Your correct it is a green check mark for my role within the company. But this green check mark happens to an important check mark for those entities that are required to do PCI compliance. Also this systen is not written in-house. The JRE supports a mission critical Cisco call center application that has strict compatibility issues with no JRE 7 support. Cisco really doesn't care that Java 6 is EOL. Thanks for your help

    I was wondering about that.

jconger: are you saying you have 6u51? If so then, as gimbal2 has just pointed out, that implies you have a support license.

I found 6u51 on an academic website. I assume it was out there by mistake.

That is basically admitting you installed stuff from some random site in stead of downloading it from the actual source :/

Are you referring to Apple's latest/current/last Java offering? Java 6 update 65
