    Default JDBC problem

    Dear members,
    While trying to connect Java with Oracle Database Server the following error is coming.


    Error value:Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
    The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
    localhost:1521:orcl

    please tell me how to get out of it..Please reply in details.

    Hello,

    Your connection should be as this
    Java Code:
     DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@//machineName:port/SID,   userid,  password);
    is it right ? if it's O.K. you may miss typed your DB SID or there is a network protection in the Database Server or in Server's Firewall, check them too.
