I need help to create a menu that when a link is clicked its background changes color to indicate which page is currently being viewed.
I guess you are talking about JavaScript. That is different language than Java my friend . You can do what you want in multiple ways. Look at CSS and JavaScript chapters at W3Schools Online Web Tutorials
