    Question Java monitoring tools

    Hi to all.

Here is a question... Is there any speacial monitoring tools for Java apps under Linux/FreeBSD OS'es?

For example - jstack was very helpfull for me few days ago. But may be is anything else? Something like "top" for Java? Something to show used by Java-app traffic? If so - what do you use?

What do you mean by java-app traffic? If you're looking for performance metrics then you need a profiler, like JVisualVM.

Well... The best of all will be any console-utility, which can show and (!) logging such parameters like CPU used by JVM proccesses, memory etc.

Maybe jconsole can do what you want (it's part of the SE distribution tool set)

I don't know of any shell tool, but Google might. CPU usage is a question for the operating system, not the JVM. Heap space usage you can query in the Java application itself, through the System class.

Are you asking in terms of cloud based apps, i.e, Java apis for this? As well as google cloud is concerned, we have recently deployed our [spammy link removed -- mod] app in it and communicating with it through JAVA API. Google cloud infrastructure has its own monitoring system.

That's only because "someone" removed all the several other spammer accounts on sight.
