    Question game applet example

    hi to all,
I am very new to java, just finished an introduction to java course
I am trying to get ahead in java by developing games, but I am not familiar enough with graphics in java, and that's why I am trying to design a game.

I am trying to design a game very similar to chess or backgammon (a background picture "the game board", and the pieces "pictures that moves over the board with the mouse while giving their coordinates, to calculate the moves").

is there a sample code that I can learn from for this issue?
a code for a simple game similar to the above will do.

    thanks in advance.

You can find the source to quite a few open source games at StaticVoidGames.com, but if you want more specific help, you're going to have to ask a more specific question.

I also suggest you check out the tutorials (see signature). They cover graphics, events (e.g. mouse movements, key stroke input, etc). You may want to just try some examples before the delve into a full blown game.

thank u very much guys for your support.
again, I am a starter in java but I am already a computer eng. I have experience in non OBL (Basic, FORTRAN, and Machine language), the DOS era languages.
so I have no clear experience in GUI programming. but i have the knowledge and experience in general programming, algorithms, and logic.
(I am trying to invest this summer in learning GUI through game programming. I dont want to waste time in this summer)

I have an idea about a game similar to backgammon. I know how to put an algorithm and the program for the game. but I dont know how to put the background picture(the game board) and the pieces then control them through the program. I though if I could have a simple code for a similar issue/game, then I can modify it. and program the algorithm in java(I know enough in java to write the algorithm).

the links you provides assumes I know nothing in java. and whats important, it doesn't talk about the graphics issue that I want to know.
if you have a simple code for a similar game or a tutorial for graphics(simple and fast). it would be great.
    thank u again guys :)

Well, I can't provide any examples. But I have been programming in Java a long time and I still refer to the tutorials.

The link I gave you before has quite a few games, most of which are open source.
