Default Re: Class MimetypesFileTypeMap and png images

The API docs for the class describe the locations the runtime will look for MIME information. Such extension->mime conventions would be (like anything to do with file extensions) a matter of how the user has configured their system.

The class gives you a way of programmatically adding entries. And that would seem to be the most straight forward way to go.

(I've never used the class, but point (4) in the API docs suggests that an executable jar can arrange for extension->mime entries to be present. A bit of googling reveals some discussion of this at StackOverflow.)
