    Default Which java.exe is executing

I have the file "java.exe" in a number of "places" on my computer as a result of downloading more than one "java platform". When I enter "java -version" at the DOS command prompt, I get "java version 1.7.0_07 Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment". I want an "EE" runtime engine. This says its an "SE" version. Is there a "java option" which will reveal where the operating system is getting the java.exe that it is running. Thanks

EE is not a runtime engine, it's a framework for producing enterprise applications.
    It uses the standard JVM.
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

java -option tells me it is an "SE" (which I think means Standard Edition ) runtime environment. Are there non-SE runtime environments ? Isn't there an "Enterprise Edition" (EE) runtime environment? Didn't it used to be called J2EE? Is the JVM different for different runtime environments. Or are there other components of the runtime environment that make JRE's distinct.

    No.
    The JVM is always SE.
    There is no EE JVM.
    It's a framework.
It has a bunch of libraries (eg the servlet stuff) that are the basis for enterprise applications and servers.

thanks I get this now JRE = JVM + runtime libraries + libraries necessary to the platform.
