Arrow Glassfish3/jdk7 - where is javax.servlet package; not found when I compile

I've downloaded and installed glassfish3 from the Oracle site. It includes jdk7. When I compile a servlet , the compiler can't find the javax.servlet package. I've jacked around the classpath in every way possible. I also looked in the bin and lib files for a jar file containing the package and can't find it. Does anyone know that it should be there and if so where it is. Thanks

This JDK7 you're mentioning is this the EE (Enterprise Edition)?

Glassfish is Oracle's quintessential EE product line. jdk7 came with the download so I assume its an EE product.

Just my $0.2 - glassfish is a turd. I can't count how many problems I've had it with it crashing, freezing, failing to hot deploy, etc...

I really wanted to like it, really I did... tomcat, jetty, jboss, pretty much everything else is waaaaaay better. I'm not saying the reason for your problem is glass fish... well, yes I am. Try tomcat 7 - all you do is drop your .war into the webapps folder and run a script. Done. Documentation is good, and I've found it to be very solid. Has a nice GUI web app too - just add yourself to the manager-gui group in the tomcatUsers.xml file.

I downloaded Tomcat. It has no compile; but it does have the servlet-api.jar file. So using Tomcat in the classpath and the glassfish jdk with the compiler, I can now compile servlets. thanks
