Default Java dynamic content web applications

    Hi,

I'm new to Java and I've been reading about Java Servlets and JSP and pros and cons of each. The issue is that I'm not sure what to use to create dynamic content in my web application. It just seems to me, that it is limited since everything is based on submitting the form to be able to process the input. For example, I want to write a web app that user A logs in, data automatically displays from a database, for example customer information in rows and columns. If another user B logs in and they make a change in the table, for example customer name, user A should be able to notice a change in his view dynamically. My question is, is it possible to dysplay the dynamic content in the web page without refreshing the webpage or re-submitting the form request to display the data. The only way I see is there would be button for users that would submit the request to fetch the data from the database. I know I'm confusing but let me know if you need clarification.

    Huh?

You want a webpage to display new information without refreshing the page. Regardless of what technology you use would you mind explaining how you think this will be possible?

I've seen the webpages for example, stock ticker where numbers change without refreshing the webpage. I'm not sure if they are using the flash or javascript though but was wondering if it can be done in Java.
