New to java and have a few questions

Hello all i am new to java programming and i am finding it tough at certian points and easy at others, but i do have a few questions that i fell some could help me out with and point me in the right way!
1. I am fairly new to java and i would like some challanges to put into practice what i have learnt is there a webpage or a site that would offer some programming tasks to do (for beginners that is)

2.I have a book to learn some programming for games (Beginning Java SE6 Game programming third edition) and it has a bit of programming that it has not explained what it means or does in java and i was wondering if someone could give me an answer

Gaming is not an easy task, and to do that you must keen on the basis first of all. My suggestion for you is to go through the Suns' official tutorial while try out all the examples explain there and some additional your own tasks.
