    Default Java Command Window shuts as soon as I open it

    I am a Java novice and have just downloaded jdk1.7.0_07 onto my Windows 7 laptop. When I try to open the Java executable the command window shuts as soon as it opens...???

    Open the command prompt window first and enter the java command in it.
