New To Java dont Know where to start

Im interested in learning java as my next language, currently i know vb but thats about it im just unsure as to where to start with learning java and what downloads are necessary to begin coding and compilling do you guys have any recommendations or tutorials on getting started? thanks

You can go on youtube to search for users that give Java tutorials, like thenewboston, or search for a PDF book on the web, if you don't have one at home. Anyways, that's how I'm starting to learn Java.

You will probably want Java SE 7. Here is a link to where you can download the JDK: Java SE Downloads.

If you want, you can download an IDE such as Eclipse or Netbeans. Many people choose to use just Notepad and Command Prompt.

For a tutorial, The Java Tutorials is a great place to start. If you are more comfortable with a book, Sam's Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days is a great one.
