    Default Voxel Based Games

I am currently looking to make a game that you may say is like Minecraft, I basically have the current idea to generate a flat 3D world in which you as the player is able to walk around in. I was just wondering at which point you would start creating such a game/environment. Also dont respond with stuff like learn from the Really Big Index, I am looking for specific areas where I should be learning as well as how to start creating the environment.

How about listing some specific things that you already know?
Get in the habit of using standard Java naming conventions!

I dont already know a great deal, I was just wondering where someone would start with creating a game like this so that I could learn those aspects that I need.

    Do you know Java?
If not then the Big Index is really the place to start.
At least the basics and things like Collections.

After that then whatever GUI framework you;re planning on using.

I have decided that LWJGL looks like a good library to use, however I am still unclear on where to start, if you were to create a square voxel based world what would be the first bit or bits of code/files that you would have to write.

You still need to learn the basics of Java.
If you try and charge on straight into the GUI without knowing the fundamentals then you;re going to produce clunky rubbish that quite possibly will never have a hope of working.

I already understand some of the uttermost basics, and I will continue to learn them, I am just curious as to how I would start to go about creating something like what I have in mind. I am the kind of person that likes to learn as I go along and learn from fixing my mistakes so I quite often like to jump straight into things, I find it a faster way of learning which is why I want to start working with gui whilst I continue to learn more of the basic fundamentals of Java.
