How Do You Start Learning Java?

Hello, I'm new and I want to start writing Java code to make mods and stuff. I've tried to watch a couple of 'thenewboston' videos put I prefer to read . so can some-one give me links to cheap books or help me as a tutor kind of thing? Thanks.

To add more that may be a bit more beginner friendly, try head first java. You may be able to find it on google by searching for pdf's. There are plenty other good books, try checking the book recommendations link in my sig. I'd also highly suggest HTDP (links in blog), even though it's not java, it's a very nice book. Bookmarking the oracle tutorials that Tolls linked will be invaluable as well. They are great for learning, and as a reference.

Head First Java, is one of the best for starting, also, Think in Java by Bruce Eckel.

Head First Java is good to start with..If you already have some knowledge in oops concepts and basic syntax, then you could read Sun certified java programmers guide by Kathy sierra.. Its an excellent book tp understand the concepts in depth...

daily one concept and study 10 ways of programming . then u be good

Java Programming for Dummies book is pretty good for real beginners... also check out the "Learn Java in 24 Hours" book series... the latest one goes into android a little too... pretty good book
