java update problem(beginner:/)
hello,
i have java 6 update 21 on my 32 bit windows xp computer. i want to update it to this version jdk 7u5 (Java SE Downloads) to start learning java. What i do? download it, install it and it will cover up the other version of java? unistall completely the version that i have and download the new? or something else? what should i do?
thanks for help and sorry if there are any misunderstandings

Hi,
You can have multiple JDKs installed on your system at once. So you don't need to uninstall the previous one before installing a new one. You can switch the active version by changing the JAVA_HOME environment variable. Point it to the version that you want to use. If you are working with an IDE you can also register multiple JDKs on your IDE. And then pick one for the current project you are working on.Website: Learn Java by Examples
