How to change the default Java
Good-day,

Well, I've ran into a problem with Java 1.6. Our software that we use works only on version 1.5_10. The big old corp. has pushed down version 1.6 which now is the default.

I have tried all that I know (which isn't much) in making version 1.5 the default. Can this be done from a external program or in the registry?

I can't uninstall 1.6.

Thanks for any help with this

If you're usign windows, try changing the environmental variable "JAVA_HOME" to the directory in which the 1.5_10 version is installed, and It should work (hope ).

simply add the environmental variable JAVA_HOME with the path of the jre version you want, and It should afflict each program.

Didn't work
Heelo,

I added in the following lines: JAVA_HOME, then C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10. I also added in this at the end of the PATH ;%JAVA_HOME%\bin\

It still tries to use JRE 1.6.0_02 which is my problem. I need to only run version 1.5.0_10.

From the dos command I ran Java -version and it says 1.6.0_02. I also looked in the internet options and it has a check mark of JRE 1.6.0_02 whcih is written to by corp. on very login.

Any other ideas that I can try

Thanks
