    Error messages
    + duplicate class: kthMiniLab2 -->for lines 40 and 71 as is
    + class kthMiniLab2a is public, should be declared in a file named kthMiniLab2a.java / class kthMiniLab2b is public, should be declared in a file named kthMiniLab2b.java -->for same lines when 'a' and 'b' are put after 'kthMiniLab2'

    Two things: you have two classes with the same name, and, you named the .java file something different than its class name. So, let's say i have a class called Example, when i make the .java file, i must name it Example.java. And obviously, you can't have two classes with the same name (unless, of course, they reside in different packages).

    I understand what you are saying to an extent, all the names are the same as far as class and .java files go to my knowledge. I changed the names to kthMiniLab2a and kthMiniLab2b for the 'T' and 'H' and received the second error message stated in the above post. Im at a loss here :confused:

    Well, that second error message is given when the file name does not match the class name. So here's what you should do.

    Cut and paste all ur code, but change the class names to something shorter and easier like Lab2A and Lab2B, and paste Lab2A and Lab2B code into files called Lab2A.java and Lab2B.java respectively.

    The main .java file has to be named with my initials the project and the project number, hence the kthMiniLab2. But I just dont understand what I have been doing wrong... Do I create a new File? If so what type? There is a selection and I have tried 'Java Class' and 'Main Class' thus far going that route. Or go and start with a new Project? Going this route I have tried the 'Basic Java Application' to no results. Or do I just make a text document and save it as .java saving it to the src folder the kthMiniLab2.java is saved to? I am lost and that is what I have tried and received various error messages each time... Naming of the other files each time was kthMiniLab2a for the 'T' and kthMiniLab2b for the 'H'. I'm lost, frustrated, tired and am going to go to bed so if theres something I am blantely doing wrong please tell me.

    Hello

    In your project, you only need one class. In a Java program there is a special method called the main() method. This is the entry point of your program - there can only be one. Define one class like this:

    Now, you only have one file called "kthMiniLab2.java". In Java programs can be broken up into smaller pieces to describe some behavior or data. A method is a sub program that runs in a class. You do not have to worry about classes for now. To create a method, you do this:

    Tim to the rescue again, one of these days I would like to shake your hand... And yes it did help, as a matter of fact it solved the problem, I would have never though of the 'public static void print' line, Thank you.
