how to use sms gateway for my swing desktop application ?

i am working on a swing based mini project it save person's phone no. , email etc detail in mysql, now i want to add a functionality which will allow to send my data from database such as bunch of phone numbers to another person's mobile phone via sms..?

one more thing suppose there is a person name "john" and his details are saved in my application and suppose 30th march is john's birthday, so is this possible that i can set a reminder in my application for john's birthday and on 30th march the application will send me a sms reminding john's birthday ???? if it is possible to do then please explain me how can i do this ??? any hypothetical idea is also welcome..
