Downloading Text Editor for Windows
Hey guys, I'm very very new to Java (and programming in general)
I've had a little lesson with a friend on the Uni computers, however I want to give it a go properly at home. I've used 'Kate' and I've been recommended Netbeans, but I'm struggling to get either of then downloaded for windows 7 onto my laptop.
My friend has lent me the textbook he used through Uni, so hopefully I should manage the basics alright on my own, just need something to practice them on!
Any help would be really appreciated ^_^

Re: Downloading Text Editor for Windows
Notepad++ works on Win 7.
Then just compile using the command line.
Start simple.
HelloWorld is a classic to check your environment...note, do not set the CLASSPATH environment!

Re: Downloading Text Editor for Windows
Kate is a text editor for Linux only primarily used for the KDE Environment. Netbeans is a full on Java IDE (not recommended for complete beginners).
I 100% agree with Tolls, Notepad++ is a fabulous text editor for Windows.If you aren't programming in Java, well that's just too bad.
I'd rather be using Ubuntu.
