UML Diagrams

Hey guys,
I am a CS major in college and I am in my second programming class. I have no idea what a UML diagram is. I know its how you show your code through diagrams but I do no know how to create one. My last professor never told us how and my current professor wants one with every program we write. I have no idea in what format to send it and what software to use. Please help!

I've usually created them with pencil and paper, but your mileage may vary. (... when I've used them, which is not often.)

Hi,

You could you an UML modeling tool like Modelio to draw your UML diagrams. After drawing your diagrams, you can print or export them as image (png, jpg, ...).
As you are working with Java, you can use Java Designer extension to work with.
