next book after john smiley's
Please could people advise me as to the next book to use after john smiley's - i found his very useful (up to the last few chapters where he explains how to create a gui - i thought that programming languages has a visual interface that meant you didn't have to create forms/labels/text boxes etc from scratch)
Re: next book after john smiley's
No programming language has such a visual interface (that I know of), but IDE's do, including M$'s Visual Studio products. If you want to learn Java GUI programming with Swing, then your best bet is to first learn how to use the library via the Swing tutorials and then later if you desire use a code generation program such as is available with NetBeans.
