By the way do any of your country people say "dub dub dub" instead of "WWW" or is New Zealand just got lazy speakers in it?

Take it easy dub. I think he was asking locale information because maybe the magazine he might recommend depends on international location?
I definitely recommend Dr. Dobbs. ACM Queue and Communications of the ACM are my favorite, although they're not technically Java magazines but computing magazines in general.

If you were in india i would have suggested Developer IQ. One more thing, purchasing Dr. Dobbs was like giving my week's salary back then.
It disappointed me truely .. but no more ..

I haven't purchased Dr. Dobbs in two years! keep it on the down low.. k? I fill out those lengthy questionnaires that take like a half hour. Then like magic I've got a year long subscription. Same goes for Information Week. The ACM mags I have to pay for, which is paid for through my ACM general subscription, then again - they're high quality magazines.

this thread is beginning to loose it's wheel & having a accident.
I was only interested to find a good java magazine to read each month, if it is a good magazine with a web site maybe I could take out a subscription from the web if the local magazine inporter does not bring it in.
The only reason I got off the subject was to explain my user name, I regret that now due to the response, I have sent CaptainMorgan a personal message if any one else wants to know send me a personal message via this web site.
That ends the part now, I only wish to focus on the java magazine, I think from memory that Dr. Dobbs does cover a bit of java from time to time
I see Developer IQ has a web site :: DeveloperIQ.com ::

low K no more .. i met Dr. Dobbs when i was in ninth standard in school library .. one could expect how much a school kid was paid those days. With Developer IQ i grew up with it, not because of it's quality to compare with Dr. Dobbs but because of it's simplicity and two free CD that included every opensource java softwares that you could imagine. If you could find issues back 2 years of Dr. Dobbs when it started covering eclipse and plugin frameworks, i personally think those were golden times of Dr. Dobbs. I still have photocopies of those issues .. i seriously could not afford to buy that magazine.
One more thing about Developer IQ and Dr.Dobbs. This forum is more of Developer IQ, if you could get it's print copy. I would say sun's forum could be compared to Dr. Dobbs.

I'm not familiar with Developer IQ, so I'm afraid I can't make the connection - can you explain what you mean by this? Thanks!

Along with country i should have asked you your experience level as well because unlike Dr. Dobbs, Developer IQ are simple and targetted for starting developers - a kind a like this forum. Where as Dr. Dobbs is kind of advance and is not targeted for first timers. I felt same in sun's forum.
My bad way of giving good view ... lol

Hi sorry I did not get back
I did C/C++ at night school a few years ago, like 6 years, (well it was 4 hours a day for 3 months)
I did in fact order Dr. Dobbs from their web site, (for lunch time reading at work). interesting, to get the magazine from the local bookshop it is/(was $NZ15 a few years ago per issue) to get it by subscription it will be $NZ3.27) that is about $US2.50. for 12 months unless you are a professional programmer in USA and can get it from their web site for free.
sorry the $US price will be even less if you have to pay for it in USA, that "$US2.50" is the price I pay for it.

I think you both need to take a step back from this one. Dubdubdub, especially you - roots was trying to assist you since the beginning. I would lock this thread if I could, knowing that the Mod's are having a slight difficulty with the backend makes it impossible at the moment. So for now, I need to ask you both to cease and desist.

what is you point man
(1) I started a thread that asked about a magazine.
(2) roots asked me where do you live
(3) I thought was a very civil question
(4) I gave a civil answer (unfortunately I gave the reason why I have a strange user name)
...... but I also added on the same posting (in red) "only answer if you reply to the title-thread:"
another words I am only interested finding out about the magazine
(5) then I got told "Take it easy dub" when you people dont know how to read. as I said I was only intersted to find out about the magazine that is why I started the thread
(6) then roots came along on posting #12 asking something that had nothing to do with this thread asking about magazines, and only relates to some other question I asked on another thread.
(7) I would like to say more but better not
PLEASE ONLY ANSWER TO THIS THREAD IF YOU KNOW A GOOD MAGAZINE THAT COVERS JAVA TOPICS
