Where to go from here

Hey every one. I've been studying java for about 6 months now and I have gone through two
Books. Beginning programming with java and head first java. I'm am also studying for the SCJP
Exam. I have found that the online course I'm doing for the exam and the exam itself is very
Syntax based and mostly requires a lot of memorising.

While I will keep studying for the exam I would like to know what I can do to actually help me
progress with creating programs a bit more advanced then the two books ive been
through. Any info would be great. Books, online tutorials anything really! Thanks!

I'm sure Google can find you lots of information. Try "java puzzles" "java exercises" "java problems" etc. Another good resource is reading the posts on a forum and see if you can determine what the problem is and how to solve it.

Hey thanks for the reply. I do go through posts some time and see if i can find solutions, but I was thinking more in the line of maybe creating programs. Something slightly bigger then the usual calculator and currency convectors ones.

I have of course tried searching and I didnt find anything decent that I liked. Mostly just tutorials that the books ive read have covered. I am having trouble moving onto the next step after that and im posting here to see if any one can

I already did but it seems you are too lazy to do your own research and just want me to do it for you. Your request is probably second only to comparing Strings with == in the most asked category and there have been plenty of replies. Why should people have to once again dredge up the same old responses to the elebenty gazillion requests that have been posted before yours?

It has nothin to do with laziness. I have done plenty of searches and searching through forums. I have also asked people for their opinions. One i got today was to try to start working with spring framework and I looked into it and there was a lot I didn't understand so I decided against it. Forum and Internet searches either seem to turn up stuff Ive covered
Already or stuff way too advanced for me. I'm looking for something in between.
