Default Why would someone need JAVA to code a microwave oven?

I've hear that java is huge on electronic devices, but aren't them electroinc thingys all about VHDL, C, and assembly running in MCUs and PCLDs?

Java compiler gives output as Byte code. When a program is compiled in C or C++, it generally runs slower than the same program would run if compiled to executable code. But, In Java, the difference is very minimal. As Byte codes are highly optimized one, the program execution will be much faster than we expect. This could be the reason Why Java is used in Microwave Ovens.

One more reason could be - Java is a platform-independent language which could be used to create embedded software in electronic devices such as Ovens.

Stripped out the spammt links there.
    It's not even subtle.

Well its more subtle than the avalanche of spam posts being sandblasted onto the forum right at this moment ;)

I like the ones who dump 20 or 30 posts in one go.
They're easier to clean up after.

Amidst all the discussion, why didn't one of you bright moderators close the thread? Or is it not old enough?
