Default Search tool for searching class files in windows

    Hi All,

I want to search a particular text in set of class files unjarred from different jars. Can anyone suggest if there is any such kind of tool? I need something likes windows search where in I place all class files which I want to search in a folder and then I give the text to be searched. Please do let me know if anything like this exists.

    Thanks in advance.

    Bye

Have you looked in a .class file to know what format the text is in?

Are you willing to write a small program to do the job, or are you looking for some one else's code?
I just wrote a 15 line test program to search a single file for a line of text.
The full program would need to have logic to get the directory and then the files within that directory. I'd think less than 100 lines of code.

Not sure what looking for a tool to search binary files has to do with java programming.

Sorry, I thought you were asking about searching a .class file.
When you decompile a .class file you should get a .java source file that is text.

What are you asking for then? There should be no problems searching text (.java) files for a String.

Again: what does this have to do with java programming?
