how do i get the next line for a jtextarea?

i need help in getting the next line for the jtextarea?
so far i can get the first line using .substring, but then to transfer to the next line, what do i do? because the input depends on what the user puts, and i just want to start getting it from the next line.

Read the API documentation for the getLineEndOffset() method; one position beyond that value is the start of the next line (if any).
