can a program read information from the internet?

so what I'm planning is to make a banking program for myself that will pull information off the Internet such as my bank account status.
and what i really want to do is to link it to my work, i work at a place where you can see your hours online and i want this program to read how much i work and predict my next paycheck.

so my question is can i make a program that will open the Internet, enter some passwords, read the information from those web sits, because it would be awesome if i didn't have to manually enter my information.
