Default In Real Need of Help - Very Urgent (email reader)

    Hi,
I am a student and becasue of some problems I couldn't submit my coursework in time. It's my last chance and I am so nervous I can't do anything and I don't have access to my tutor or any other source right now. So please help me.
    The description is this:

Mail box readers should obtain a user name and password from users. (HTML Client-side) They should
then retrieve subject lines from mails in the mailbox and display them to users. (Java Server-side, should return an HTML page in response to Post or Get method)
Users should be able to select one of these mail messages summarised by its subject line
either using a form or hyperlink and have the e-mail message displayed. The server
end of the application should use either POP or IMAP to handle interactions with the
mailbox. Students are NOT supposed to use APIs.

Can anybody help me with this please. I don't know how to embed POP or IMAP commands within java program.

Please see the link in my signature on asking smart questions before you post again. Just a hint though, you might want to actually ask a question.

Also, mentioning your deadlines only makes you seem impatient, which actually decreases your chances of getting help anytime soon. There are hundreds of posts here, each with an urgent user waiting on a response. The best way to improve your chances of getting help is to follow the directions on asking smart questions.

Ok, let me correct myself this way.
I am not supposed to use any APIs such as Sun Java Mail API, and I need to use IMAP or POP to access the mailbox. How am should I do that?
How can I use IMAP commands directly without using an API?

    Thanks,
    Amir

Sounds like maybe you should go through your lecture notes, assignments, and projects and look for a clue there.

You will need to use some APIs to write/read to the internet.
Have you looked at Sockets or DataGrams?
