BIRT and JasperReport

I'm thinking of using either BIRT or Jasper Report to do reporting.

Currently I have JasperWave plugin installed in my Eclipse and now wondering which one of the BIRT plugin should I get for it ? (I notice there are several plugins with BIRT in name like BIRT Functions and BIRT Controls.)

However as I see Jasper's jrxml, I wonder...should I learn xml first beforehand if I decide to use Jasper instead of BIRT later on ?

I'd appreciate if anyone can give me a link on the reading about these two reporting, but searching for it is what I'll do next so it's not really necessary...just to cut the searching time.

Thanks for the reply, as of BIRT however, I'd probably need to figure out first which one to use...there are some with that name in eclipse plugin list.

I'll give it a reading though.

I think I'll first go with jasper as I have the plugin installed already.

Is there any place I can read about it ?
I managed to get the design show up but I need to place a WHERE clause in the statement there but I seem can't find how to do it.
