    You would only have to clear the buffer after the last call to nextInt. If you type 4<enter>5<enter>, the first call to nextInt would read the 4 and leave <enter>5<enter>. The second call would read the 5, ignore everything in between and leave <enter> in the buffer.

    AH! That explains it. Thanks so much for your time and to Norm also.

    I am just getting into Java, any advice or good resources you like, I'd love to check them out. After the dummies book, I am moving on to Headfirst Java.
