    Default Flags?

Can anyone tell me where there is a tutorial on using flags in your code? I need to determine if an object is available on a web page , where the object is only available at certain times.

boolean variables are often used as flags.
But I don't see how using flags is related to your problem: determine if an object is available on a web page

how are you reading the web page?

When do you read the page: only available at certain times.

it is a chat icon that is only available on the page when there is a live person available. I was hoping there was something other than the Java API. Its not real clear on the use of Flags. Just needed a little better clarification on the methods.

Which Java classes would be involved?
Are you reading an HTML page and parsing it to see if a particular image is being shown?
