Trouble installing JAVA
I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question. But this is my problem.
I have downloaded BlueJ from http://www.bluej.org/download/download.html (the first download for Windows XP)
And for downloading JDK I went to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ad-346242.html
For Windows, I see that there are two downloads
1. Windows x86
2. Windows x64
I did not knew what is the one that I should actually be downloading: the first or the second. So, I downloaded the second one. At the end the error message: Not a compatible win program was displayed. What should i do now? Should I download the one named 'Windows x 86'?
You can try and see what happens when you do, howeveryou should be able to find out if you have an x86, for example when I open my c drive it shows a program files folder which has (x86) after the folder name.
Windows x86 is the 32 bit version of Windows and x64 is the 64 bit version. The x86 program should run on either version of windows where as the 64 bit version will not run on a 32 bit version of windows. You should download and install the 32 bit version and it should work. You can verify that you have a 32 bit version of windows by:
click on start menu -> right click my computer -> select properties
Review your system properties.
Thank you. I have downloaded the other version for 32 bit.
