Advice
Though I am not senior in JAVA, you have to read books to learn this. I follow the Java written by Deitel. And this book is really appreciatable. In exercise section, there are so much problems by solving them you can be better in JAVA.

Well Barnes brings you to OO programming, thats a very good start on a understanding manner.
We have the Liang - Introduction to Java programming, but i think thats to much for a beginner.

Grab a title, google with google books and see if the book is online.
Just read a little and judge if this is the thing you search for.
Otherwise go to a bookstore with IT books and have a look.
You have technical high level books. But you have books from trainers to.
The trainers, like Barnes i mentioned, will explain things better and the drive to go on will be there!
