Can i run JAVA-Viewer.jad on website?
Hi All,
Is it possible to run a Java Viewer programme on a website that was designed to be run on a Symbian Smart Phone.
The file that is downloaded and installed on the phone is JAVA-Viewer.jad
This is a viewer that connects to my home security camera system. I would like if possible to run it from a page in my website. Is this possible without major programming skills?
Thanking you

Can you just enter the URL that your JAVA-Viewer program uses into a browser on your computer? It looks to me like that JAVA-Viewer is just a runtime that runs on phones, so there may not be anything special about the applet that needs to be viewed only on a phone.

Hi NRitH,
If I enter the URL in an IE browser it tries to run active X and a .cab file that contains a viewer. It does not support any other browsers.
I can get a copy of the .jad file from the system. I have been looking for information on how to create a webpage that will run / display the JAVA Viewer programme using the .jad file.
This way I hope to be able to go to any browser, open the webpage I have added the viewer on and view the cameras.
Regards

It appears I have to somehow create a .jnpl file to run the .jar programme.
I can see html style code in example .jnpl files elsewhere.
Is this written in something like notepad and just saved with .jnpl instead of .txt?
Am I on the right track?
Thanks

Yes. Check out Java Web Start - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for some pointers.
p.s. It's jnlp, not jnpl. :)
