Could not find main class
i know next to nothing about java ,basically nothing. Im using windows 7 premium,no viruses, malware or anything. I play a game called minecraft wich uses java. I am trying to use this [JAR] TFCs Mod Manager [UPDATE 14.1] Check mods updates! - Minecraft Forums when i download it it downloads in a rar format,i then have it put on my desktop. Well the instructions say to run the program with javaw.exe , I figured out how to select the javaw.exe . So now the file is displayed as a page with the java logo instead of the stack of books . When i double click to run it i keep getting" could not find main class, its like this for every program i download. I have been on google searching high and low for a fix. Ive uninstalled ,reinstalled, rebooted, registry cleaner.etc..... NOTHING HAS WORKED.Java's website just says to reinstall.wich ive done 5 times today lol.

alrite,i did post in the forum itself, along with about 4 other people, from what ive gathered its a random issue, some people with windows 7 have the issue and some dont. Ive gone through my process of cleaning up my drive and registry and all that . Heres what is in the file. 2 FILES (META-INF) AND (Minecraftmodmanager) ok,then if i open the meta-inf it has
MAINFEST.MF
Minecrafmodmanager has
59 files ranging from ColorRenderer.class to main$1.class
main$20.class
main.class etc....

ok so since i have next to NO computer knowledge it has been long and frustrating,BUT ,i found a program that will open my ,jar files ,its called executor ,it seems as though windows 7 sumtimes ( 50/50 % chance) will not create the proper stuff to run a jar threw java . So this program called executor on cnet simply has you drag and drop the .jar program onto it and creates it all for you. Wish there was another way though, have to admit that having to use another program just to run a program sucks.

So you find a solution for your program?
But I am very curious about your problem. Can you open a MANIFEST file with notepad and see if there is an entry for Main-Class:. The name of a class with the main method should be there. Check if a class with that name exists in the other folder. If not than probably the jar is not ment to be executable or you have an isue with your system.

from what ive gathered (even with me having no java knowledge) is that "SOME" windows 7 users are finding that java is not creating the proper paths or something and that the only way around is either through a program like executor or a command prompt .Executor places a icon on your desktop and you take the file/program or w/e your wanting to run with java and drag and drop ontop of the icon,it then creates the proper paths etc.
