GPS programming =)
So at school we got an assignment to program a GPS divice. The device comes with a driver that shows lat and long ... the problem is that i dont know any way to catch these numbers from that program ... Is there a not-so-complicated way to do this ... or do i need to take the info from the COM-port?
If you could direct me to some information relevant to solving the issue it would be nice =) Thank you
Does it come with a Jar file? What do you mean by a driver? is it a Windows driver? Does it come with any documentation at all? If there's no direct way to communicate with the device via Java, you may need to use JNI or (the easier to use) JNA.

It does not come with any java things it is a windows driver,it has no ducumentation at all (GARMIN) I was thinking listening to the COM port and stealing the info as it pases trough =P but maybe im mistaken ... where can i read JNA? =)

I am also allowed to use others stuff .. as long as i explain where i got it and who wrote it ;P well i have about 6 month to create a working GPSmap together with my group =P but i dont want to use other peoples stuff ... so i was just wondering if there were any easy way to do it ? =)
I'm guessing you've done a Google search on this, and if so, are there public libraries out there that are worth trying or other avenues of attack that others have found fruitful?
