Default Creating a mosaic of images for website background

Hello everybody in the forum. I'm not just a Java beginner, but a total Java illiterate.

However, I have come to this forum to find a solution to what I'm trying to do. What I want to do for my website is to create a big mosaic of jpegs for background, and I want it to be navigable not just by scrolling but also by clicking and dragging.

I hear that Flash and Java can both do this. But since Flash is heavier and less universal, I thought Java.

So, how do I do it?

    Thanks.

It should be done on the client's side (otherwise it'll be too slow and causes a high network traffic load). You have the choice of (J)Applets or Javascript. Doing it with a JApplet has the 'advantage' of using Swing components (with a GridLayout if all images are of the same size?) Javasript is an entirely different cup of tea.

    kind regards,

    Jos

It can be done with Javascript as well?

How about any standard compiler, for example, Dreamweaver?
