Java won't install
Java has stopped working and there was a
message of a corrupt file. After deleting the
Java folder, one version would not reinstall and
an older one did finish install but any Java
does not work. Any answers? Java in Control panel
doesn't work either looking for new version. I can
bring it up with javacpl from the install folder.

Assuming your using windows, go to the settings/software screen and delete all versions of Java, then install the ones you want, from the oldest version to the newest version. You do not simply delete software folders and expect further installation procedures for that software to succeed as the system no longer matches the registry and Windows gets confused.
-
Where are you talking about this settings/software screen? I had tried running the uninstall but it didn't work.
-
maybe control panel, add remove programs ?

It has interesting that if Java gets fouled up, they don't have a recovery system or that it is fussy about the state of someones computer and they simple can forget about running it
-
That is more a problem of Windows install and the registry, and whatever program was used to create the installer, not Java itself, FYI.

If you cannot remove from add-remove programs then delete all the Java installation folders and run a registry cleaner.
A free registry cleaner I use is CCleaner and you can get it from:
Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide!
Reboot the system and check if they are still in Add Remove programs. If they are try and uninstall them from there again and it should ask to remove them from the list.

Re: Java won't install
I know this is necro post, but this thread seemed to be the right topic.
I'm a moron sometimes, so I don't think of obvious things, the answer is probably not very hard I just can't think right. Please help.
I was trying to uninstall java 32-bit for java 64-bit and made a horrible mistake. I installed 64bit, but java was still running off of the 32bit installation. So instead of uninstalling it like a normal person and made the terrible mistake of going into program files (x86) and deleting the java folder. Then I made it worse by emptying my trash. Java still didn't work right. In-fact now no java programs will even open. So I go into control panel and try uninstalling the right way. I uninstall the 64bit since that's the only version still showing up. Now I try re-installing Java. This is where I'm getting problems. It says Java is already installed, so I tell it to install over previous installation, a pop-up come up telling me that I can't do that, because the program isn't installed, and that only works for programs that are already installed.
Did any of that make sense? And if so can you help?

Re: Java won't install
Find a good third party uninstaller and registry cleaner and uninstall every version of java you can (that hasn't been delivered with, and as part of, another program), then use the registry cleaner, then try installing again.
