looking further into java
hey guys! i have just finished my first semester in college doing a computer science degree. we've been learning programming through java so far and we will keep going with java next semester. so far we've done most basic java programming functions including if statements, loops, arrays etc.
well to the point! i'm really interested in going further into java on my own at home (as well as in college of course) because i'd love to start some projects soon making some 2d mmo games. i would love to go beyond the college course to speed up my programming knoledge. i was wondering how i would go about doing that? is there any nice sites around that could get me going into java further? or maybe i can get some books out of the college library if you guys know any good books?
thanks in advance :Djust a beginner trying to find his way

I think it wont be very effective to start making games, after only 1 semester, it will work, of course, but it will be much slower without some large start-up programs, to get the conventions, performance, oo right.

I thought i was the only one with such advice. LOLgo online and search some articles and tutorials about JAVA in general (OOP).
Though, on a more serious note, try searching on youtube.. Perhaps you can find instructions there.

I haven't even started college yet, I start in January, but I'm reading HeadFirst Java. I really like it.
I'm also watching some CS videos from MIT, really interesting.
