please guys , help me in the good book for core java

hi guys i hope all are fine here ,

please i need one terrible help from you all , actually i want to learn core java in the deep manner , so i was trying to learn it from " head first java " but i could not able to understand the english properly and i am not able to figure out what the book says , because the english is too much calocial and can be understood only by a U.S.A guy . And i am not good in english and english is not my native language and in our country we learnt only england english .

1. please suggest me a good core java book with simple english
2. I haven't programmed before in any other language , but i know some concept of c , c++ . But i wanted to learn to program directly in java . is it possible ? or should i have to learn any programming language before start learning java .

So, if you are really looking for a book, them my suggestion is SAMs publications. They have nice series of books related to core Java as well. Other than that, the Suns' tutorial is the most suitable place to take off.

Even you don't have prior experience in programming, still you can take a start with Java. But my advice is then to read bit about Object Oriented concepts as well. And also you may miss important concepts such as memory management, when you deals with Java. Because VM take care of them, not like in C/C++. But it's not a big deal to worry.

Try "Building Java Programs: A Back to Basics Approach". I've studied the book and it was very easy to understand and filled with great examples. It also covers OOP concepts and Collections Classes pretty well. Google it, and check out their website.

Amazon.com: Sams Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours (5th Edition) (9780672330766): Rogers Cadenhead: Books

Same author involve, but the approach is different. Actually I've use very old versions of them, now you have the updated.

I think you will like Sams Teach Yourself In 24 hours. It brushes through quite a bit of basics. His book in Teach Yourself In 21 days is more like 500+ hours. It might be one to get after the first. But I think either will work.

All the basic concepts you want is there. And you cannot find all the explanation have in Suns' tutorial in any other place. But actually in some cases, the workout examples are not enough, and some of the books are well ahead. :)

And I've to forget one thing. With whatever book you refer, you must keep the Java API with you. Try to read the documentation as much as possible with the coding. Then you can have much better understanding. How to use the API is very important on the way...

Java 2: The Complete Reference by Herbert Schildt is one nice book for starters.

Many concepts explained very clearly and easy to understand.

Hey funkygarzon,

I don't know why but I am getting this feeling that you are running behind everything that is being offered to you. Well, I would suggest you to finalize one book and get started with it.

We are here to suggest, if you don't like any of the books don't stay with it for a long time. Go for the books which suits your style of learning, instead of trying out everybody's suggestions.

I was just surfing and found this link for java books review by java-world. Have a look at it, in case if you are interested.
