    Default OOP Book for Newbies

    Hi All

Just started to learn JAVA and need your advise. I hope this is the right place to post this....@ admin..apolgies if not, please move if need be :o

I come from a procedural language background and not programmed using objects before. Does anyone know a decent book which covers OOP in depth but starts at the basics?

I thought about getting something like dummies or SAMS 21 days but would rather get a book to last me a bit longer..not too keen on these types of books but they have they're place too..I'm using the SAMS 21 days Java book....not too much detail but step-by-step & hands on..good for starting

Ideally OOP in Java context would be the best

    So please let me know

    Cheers
    Steve

    Hi Search4Survival

Thanks for the info..I live in Germany and it's quite expensive here. I can order it from amazon uk and get it sent it here. It's an option..but it's hard being a newbie and finding the 'correct' book i reckon. To me what's the best is a book that explains it well, not too technical but in depth..simple and slow and deep. Thanks for the heads up, will keep it in mind. The author seems to well respected

    Cheers
    Steve

Try The Java Programming Language by James Gosling (the creator of the language) et al.
