Like if I draw something in Drawingtool and I want to erase it without having to exit the JVM and restarting it.

What is Drawingtool? This is not part of standard Java, and unless we know more about it, it will be difficult to help you.

I believe he's referring to DrawingTool, part of the OpenMap API for JavaBeans. (Sadly that's as far as my expertise goes on the matter. I've never used it, only been introduced to it in passing.)
