Unhappy Send a java task via Network.

    Hi,

I got a problem sending task from another computer on a small network...

I got a little project who I'm making in Java and I should let another laptop on a network(already configured) play a video via Java, but I don't know which codes I could use to do that. So that when I'm on one laptop, I can play a video on the other laptop. I'm using VLC and already got the codes to link VLC with java.

I hope someone can help me with this...

    Sorry for the bad english.

I would think of connecting to the application on the other comp and then sending a play video x request.
The other application would need to listen for connection requests, of course.

I should use some code to send task to the IP of the other laptop or something like that.??

Yes, you send a connection request from your laptop to the host and port the other program is running on, then the other program accepts it, then you send a "play video x"-request from your machine, the other program reads it and plays the video.

That's how I would do it.

Then perhaps it would be best to try something a little simpler and work your way up to something as advanced as this?

I know, but this is a school project, and we did not learn about networking in java. We should find it out ourself, but we are not getting an solushon.
