Try also DreamInCode, lots of good tutorials for all cases of your life. Or try to learn by documenting that you figure out at Wikiversity. To share your applet online, Ultrastudio seems interesting. There is really no lack of community resources on Java! I also find code completion (feature of both Eclipse and NetBeans) useful, they help till you are not yet remembering the API well.
