GNU Java Virtual Machine
Hello all,
I have a question regarding the version of Java virtual machine and Java compiler.
when I run the $java -version command in my RH linux system i get the following output:
java version "1.5.0"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-27)
I think the 1.5.0 should be the version of JVM, however, i am not sure where can i found the specifications of this JVM. when i google for GNU JVM i just found the "classpath" project.
I would be glad if anybody can translate the output of version command for me.
Thanks,
cheers :)Last edited by behzad; 08-31-2010 at 07:56 PM.

Try asking about how to install Sun's JDK on linux on a linux forum. When I was playing with Ubuntu, I had problems with the JRE that came with Ubuntu and had to install Sun's version.

Thanks,
I already have SUN JDK but i don`t know why it was not set to be the JAVA Path.
I just wanted to know what are the properties of the JVM I was using before (GIJ).
