multi or two dimensional array

I just wanted to know whether is there any significance or use of two or multidimensional array in java??? Are they used??? coz majority of the java programs i have faced consists of single dimension arrays.

Darn, I guess I'll have to throw a bunch of my programs that use multi-dimensional arrays out then. ;)

Ohh really??? are they really used??? Can you just tell me a scenario where a multi dimensional array can be used or say it will prove to be advantageous over single dimensional? Also aren't multi dimensional arrays confusing?
