    Default Java SE Database Access

I am wondering what the best practice is for database access from Java SE?
(I know in JavaEE you can use JPA, Hibernate, etc.)

Can anyone shed some light on this for me / provide an example of this?

    Thanks.

Have you tried JavaDB/Derby? It comes bundled with your Java SE 1.6 distribution. Look in Program Files/Sun (if you're running MS Windows).

    kind regards,
