    Default Java for mainframe professionals

    Hi

    I am mainframe professional having around 10 years of exp in it.
    I want to learn java.
    I have quite exp in cobol (yeah its still alive !! ) as programming language.
    Can some one guide me which will be best approach for me to learn java, ( using my mainfram exp). I want to learn more about the system level, interoperabilty with other platforms.

    Since you know procedural coding, I'd think an important thing would be to learn OOP.
    The java language isn't too different than most modern languages. It the use of classes and the packaged classes from Sun that take a lot of effort to learn.
    The Tutorial is very good.

    My background was as a Systems Programmer for the IBM VM system.
